A South African sixpence dated 1934, issued during the reign of King George V and struck in 80% silver.

The obverse features the King’s crowned bust facing left, surrounded by the Latin inscription “GEORGIVS V REX IMPERATOR”, meaning “George V, King and Emperor.”

The reverse displays a protea flower, framed by six groups of parallel bars forming a geometric border. Around the design are the country names “SOUTH AFRICA” and “SUID-AFRIKA” in English and Afrikaans, with the date above and the denomination “6D” below.

Issued during the Union of South Africa’s pre-decimal currency period, this coin combines a royal portrait with a distinctive South African floral design. An interesting addition to a world coin collection, particularly for collectors of silver coins, George V coinage or South African history.
