A substantial polished Banded Calcite egg featuring creamy ivory and soft translucent tones, contrasted by striking bands of burnt orange, rust-red and golden honey.
The richly coloured sections sweep around the egg in bold, flame-like patterns, while the paler calcite areas reveal delicate layering and natural internal lines. Each side offers a completely different arrangement of colour, making this a wonderfully distinctive display piece.
Banded Calcite is formed from layers of calcite deposited over time, creating naturally varied bands, veins and colour changes. This material is also commonly sold within the crystal trade as Onyx Calcite.
Natural cleavage lines, internal fractures, mineral veins and surface variations may be present as part of the stone’s formation.
