A lovely natural piece of banded green calcite, weighing approximately 35g.
This specimen shows soft olive to pistachio-green colouring with creamy white mineral banding and natural brownish iron staining through parts of the matrix. The contrasting layers give it a really attractive earthy appearance, with some smoother exposed faces alongside naturally rough areas.
This material is commonly sold under the trade names Pistachio Calcite and Green Onyx, although it is calcite rather than true onyx/chalcedony.
A great little specimen for a mineral collection, crystal display or geological interest.
