A beautiful vintage Caithness Glass “Oriental Silk” paperweight, handcrafted in Scotland and weighing approximately 650g.
This substantial rounded paperweight features an elegant abstract design in rich pink, mauve, purple and lilac tones, with fine linear glasswork sweeping around the interior in soft flowing curves.
Bands of delicate white and pale glass create a textured, almost shimmering appearance through the coloured layers, while controlled bubbles and a sculptural central formation add further depth to the design.
The combination of translucent pink and purple colouring gives the piece a wonderfully luminous appearance, with the pattern changing considerably as the paperweight is turned and viewed from different angles.
The polished base is engraved with the Oriental Silk design name together with Caithness and Scotland markings.
