A fascinating vintage piano recital by husband-and-wife performers Cyril Smith and Phyllis Sellick, featuring arrangements performed using three hands across two pianos.
After Cyril Smith suffered strokes in 1956 that permanently affected his left arm, the couple adapted their established piano partnership by commissioning and creating special three-handed arrangements. This recording demonstrates their remarkable technique, musicianship and determination.
The programme includes accessible arrangements of works by Handel, Bach, Mendelssohn, Fauré, Ravel, Walton, Albéniz, Milhaud and others.
Originally published in 1963, the record is presented in its original front-laminated sleeve with an attractive photograph of the performers at their pianos and detailed notes written by Cyril Smith.
