An original Meridian Natural Sound Recording of sacred choral works by Gregorio Allegri, performed by The Choir of St John’s College, Cambridge, directed by George Guest, with Adrian Lucas on chamber organ.
Unlike most full-sized records, this specialist pressing plays at 45 RPM. Meridian promoted the higher playing speed as providing improved sound quality, greater dynamic range and reduced distortion.
The recording was made at St John’s College, Cambridge, in 1981 and originally released in the early 1980s. Its centrepiece is Allegri’s celebrated Miserere Mei, accompanied by the Missa “Vidi Turbam Magnam” and Gustate et Videte.
The original sleeve includes extensive programme notes, information about Gregorio Allegri and George Guest, and the complete Latin texts with English translations.

Condition
The vinyl has visible light surface marks and signs of previous handling. The outer sleeve displays age-related wear, including rubbing, scratches, edge and corner wear, creasing and small areas of surface loss. The printed inner sleeve shows some age-related discolouration and handling marks.
