An original vintage 1953 UK 10-inch vinyl LP featuring the celebrated Glasgow Orpheus Choir, conducted by its founder Sir Hugh Roberton.

The performances are accompanied by spoken introductions from Sir Hugh Roberton and include a mixture of Scottish, sacred and traditional choral music.

The Glasgow Orpheus Choir was founded in 1901 and became one of Scotland’s most celebrated choirs. It was disbanded in 1951 following Sir Hugh Roberton’s retirement, making this early HMV collection an appealing historical record of the ensemble’s work.

This is the original UK HMV 10-inch mono vinyl release with the red His Master’s Voice label, catalogue number DLP 1020. It should not be confused with later reissues of the choir’s recordings.

The vinyl displays visible light surface marks and signs of previous use. The laminated sleeve has age-related edge and corner wear, light surface marks, discolouration and some spotting to the reverse. Includes a period paper inner sleeve.

The record has not been play-tested and is described based on visual inspection. Please examine the photographs carefully as they form part of the condition description.
