A fascinating natural Moroccan pseudo-stromatolite sand concretion, weighing approximately 103g.
Commonly known within the mineral and fossil trade as a “Sand Stromatolite” or “Desert Onion”, these unusual Saharan formations are more accurately described as natural sand concretions rather than true fossil stromatolites.
This attractive individual specimen has a distinctive rounded form with a beautifully defined concentric oval formation across its main display face. The opposite side is smoother and more softly sculpted, giving the piece two very different appearances depending on how it is displayed.
Warm terracotta, sandy orange and cream tones run throughout the naturally granular surface.
