An unusual hand-carved natural amethyst figure depicting a bearded Chinese wise man carrying a young child.

The carving features flowing robes, a long beard and carefully worked facial details, while the smaller figure rests across his shoulder with one arm extended. Soft lilac and deeper purple tones run naturally through the stone, becoming especially luminous when held against the light.

The subject has the appearance of a traditional Chinese longevity or family-themed figure, possibly inspired by Shou Lao and accompanying child imagery. Such designs are commonly associated with long life, family happiness, protection and good fortune.

The reverse has also been fully carved, showing the folds of the robes and the child’s form, making this an attractive display piece from every angle. Its compact size makes it ideal for a crystal cabinet, small shelf, desk or collection of Asian-inspired gemstone carvings.
