A striking vintage Italian Murano-style art glass swan, featuring rich cobalt-blue colouring, clear sculpted glass and sparkling metallic detail.
Weighing approximately 470g, this substantial decorative swan has an elegant sweeping form, with the long clear glass neck curving gracefully back towards the body.
The main body contains an intense cobalt-blue glass core, surrounded by clear glass and decorated with a beautiful band of fine silver-coloured metallic flecks. These catch the light particularly well and create a sparkling effect through the lower body.
The neck and head are formed predominantly from clear glass, with beautifully moulded feather-like detailing around the head and a long sculpted beak. Small clear glass details at the rear complete the stylised bird form.
The original label remains attached and reads:
“Vetro eseguito secondo la tecnica dei maestri di Murano – Made in Italy”
This translates approximately as glass made according to the techniques of the Murano masters. The label identifies this as Italian-made glass using Murano-style techniques rather than attributing it to a particular Murano glasshouse.
